Swiss Chard Five Colours ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This ornamental leafy vegetable has bright stems in a mix of contrasting colours including red, pink, orange, yellow and white with glossy dark green leaves.

They can be used as baby leaf in salads or lightly steam like spinach.

Sow March - July

Germination 14 - 21 days

Loam - clay soil that's acidic, alkaline or neutral

Harvest May - September

Companion plants Cabbage, Kohlrabi, French Bean, Onion, and Tomato

Do not plant with Runner Beans

Harvest by cutting the stems at the bottom

A good source of vitamin A, C and K

Use for stir-fry, steam or braise

Sow outdoors between March and July into prepared seed bed 1.5cm deep sowing thinly in rows 40cm apart cover lightly and water.

When the plants are large enough thin to 15cm apart to grow on keep the crop well watered to prevent bolting.
