Basil Sweet Thai Herb ORGANIC Seed - Irish Plants Direct

This easy to grow herb has spicy flavoured shiny green leaves with purple tinged stems and purple flowers.

Grow in container displays in the garden border or on the kitchen window sill.

Use to flavour Thai and Oriental dishes.

Sow February - June

Germination 7 - 10 days

Loam - sandy soil that's acidic or neutral

Harvest June - October

Companion Plants Tomato's, Peppers, Oregano

Do not plant with Sage

Pick the leaves when required

A good source of vitamin A,C,E and K

Use in Asian dishes such as curries and stir frys

Sow the seed thinly from February onto well drained compost and cover lightly leave on a sunny window sill.

Alternatively sow outdoors in a sunny sheltered spot into fertile soil from April.

Basil doesn't tolerate any cold so make sure all frosts have passed before planting out.

Basil will flower in summer just trim the plant to encourage new leaf growth.
