Basil Sweet Red Lizzy Herb Seed

Sow March to July indoors or directly outdoors after frost. Germination 7 to 14 days at 18–22°C. Soil and Position Fertile well drained soil; prefers full sun and a sheltered position. Height Approx 20 to 35 cm; compact upright habit. Harvesting June to October; pick leaves regularly to encourage fresh growth.

 

Sowing instructions

 

Sow between March and July onto moist compost in trays or modules. Cover lightly and keep warm. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into borders or containers. Harden off and plant out after frost. Space 25 cm apart.

 

Grow and maintenance

 

Grow in full sun in fertile well drained soil. Water regularly and feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Harvest leaves as needed avoiding removal of more than one third of the plant at a time. Protect from cold and excessive wet to preserve leaf colour and flavour.
