Sow Sow March to May under cover for earliest results; sow March to May indoors for best establishment then harden off and plant out after the last frost.

Germination 14 to 28 days at typical warm seedbed temperatures; seedlings emerge reliably when kept at a steady warm 15–20°C.

Soil and Position Prefers full sun and free draining soil but tolerant of loam or sandy soils and slightly acidic to neutral conditions.

Height Approx 25 cm; neat low mounding habit suits front of borders and containers.

Flowering June to September with a long season of continuous bloom when deadheaded and kept fed.

Sowing Instructions

 

Surface sow or cover very lightly in trays or modules March to May; keep compost evenly moist and at a warm temperature, prick out when sturdy and grow on before hardening off and planting out after frost risk has passed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Plant in full sun, water regularly while establishing and avoid waterlogging. Deadhead spent flowers to extend the display and feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the main season for best flower production.

 

Use in edging, mixed containers or as a low massed display in cottage and formal borders.
