Ginkgo Biloba Tree Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This large deciduous tree known as as the Maidenhair tree originates from Asia and is part of the conifer family.

The attractive fan like bright green leaves turn golden yellow during autumn.

Germination time 3 - 4 weeks

Well drained neutral soil

Height 16 - 18 metres

Plant in sun

Before sowing roughen the seed with some sand paper or soft file then soak in warm water for 12 hours.

Sow the seed year round into pots of moist compost and place on a sunny window sill or in a propagator the temperature needs to be between 20° - 25°.

Cover the pot with clear polythene to retain moisture.

Remove regularly so mould doesn't form.

When the plants are large enough to handle transplant into individual pots to grow on.
