Sowing Instructions

Stratify seeds by sowing outdoors in pots or seed trays in autumn to allow natural winter chilling. Alternatively, mix seeds with moist sand and refrigerate for 8 to 12 weeks before sowing. Sow 1 cm deep in free draining compost and keep moist. Germination can be slow and irregular. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle.

 

Grow and Maintenance

Water regularly during the first year to establish strong roots. Once mature, Mahaleb Cherry is drought tolerant and low maintenance. Prune lightly in summer if shaping is required. Ideal for wildlife gardens, small orchards, hedgerow planting and ornamental borders.
