Bay Tree Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This slow growing evergreen tree that originates from the Mediterranean bears aromatic bright green leaves with small yellow flowers in spring.

The leaves are used to season a variety of dishes including soups and stews.

These plants are tender when young so protection is needed or bring indoors.

Water sparingly during winter and keep the temperature above 5°.

These make attractive plants for a planters.

Planting large containers or as a house plant

Trim in summer

Soak the seed in warm water 24 hours before sowing.

Sow the seed year round into pots if moist compost 1cm deep and place on a warm window sill or in a propagator the temperature needs to be between 20 - 25°.

When the plants are large enough to handle transplant into individual pots to grow on.

Gradually harden off and plant out when all danger of frost has passed in full sun.
