Beetroot Detroit 2 Crimson Globe Seeds - Irish Plants Direct 
 
This heavy cropping main crop variety is extremely popular with gardeners it has dark red globe shaped roots with a good flavour an excellent addition to salads.

Germination 7 - 21 days
Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral 
Harvest June - October 
Companion plants Broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, french bean, spinach, onion.
Do not plant with runner beans
Harvest baby beets for use in salads or leave to grow on. The young leaves can be used as spinach
A good source of vitamin A,C and fibre
Use in Salads, roasting, boiling and pickling
 
Sow into well raked prepared fertile soil from late March. The drills should be around 2.5 cm deep and well watered sow the seed thinly each drill should be around 12 cm apart.
 
Thin out the seedlings to 10cm to grow on, keeping the plants well watered in warm weather.
Regular sowing will ensure a continuous supply of crops.
