Spinach Perpetual Leaf Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

The Beta vulgaris var. cicla commonly known as Perpetual Spinach, is a versatile and long-lasting leaf beet that produces tender, spinach-like leaves throughout the growing season.

Despite its name, Perpetual Spinach is actually a chard variety. The Latin name Beta vulgaris reflects its relation to beetroot, while "cicla" denotes its leafy form. This hardy plant is highly valued for its ability to provide a continuous harvest and its excellent tolerance to heat and cold, making it perfect for year-round growing.

This robust plant grows to a height of 30-45 cm and thrives in well-drained, fertile soil with full sun or partial shade.

Perpetual Spinach is slower to bolt compared to traditional spinach, ensuring a steady supply of tender, dark green leaves. It is ideal for salads, steaming, or stir-frying, offering a mild flavour and soft texture that suits a wide range of dishes.
