Rocket Mixed Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

A quick growing mixed leaf rocket with a variety of leaf shapes and degrees of peppery bite, best harvested young for tender leaves and excellent in pots or patio planters.

Sow March to August into a finely raked seed bed in rows 25 cm apart cover with 0.5 cm of soil and keep moist

Germination 7 to 14 days in warm moist conditions.

Harvest April to October by picking the young leaves.

Sowing instructions

Sow thinly into prepared seed beds at about 0.5 cm depth and keep the seedbed evenly moist for reliable germination.

There is no need to thin heavily; sow every 2 to 3 weeks for a continuous crop and harvest leaves when they are young and tender.

Grow and maintenance

Keep soil reasonably fertile and moisture retentive; rake in a balanced fertiliser before sowing if necessary.

Water regularly during dry spells to prevent bolting and maintain leaf tenderness.

Can be grown in pots planters or beds and benefits from good airflow to reduce disease risk.

Uses and benefits

Excellent fresh in mixed salads sandwiches and as a garnish with a classic peppery bite.

Quick to harvest and ideal for succession sowing in small spaces and containers.
