Parsnip Guernsey Seeds - Irish Plants Direct
 
This french heirloom variety is a popular winter vegetable also known as half long it has broad shoulders with short roots and creamy white skins with a nutty flavour. 
 
Because of the shorter roots it is well suited to poorer stony soil.

Parsnips need a fertile soil that was manured for a previous crop they are not fussy about soil type but grow best on a light soil.
They are easy to grow and require very little attention however germination is slow so patience is required.
 
Sow between February - May planting 3 seeds 1.2cm deep every 15cm in rows 25cm apart.
 
When the seedlings emerge thin to leave one plant per station. Water regularly during dry spells.
