This popular winter vegetable is a vigorous variety with long conical shaped white roots with a good flavour. 

 

Originally from northern Germany this is a slightly earlier parsnip well worth growing.

Loam - sandy soil that's acidic, alkaline or neutral

Parsnips need a deep fertile soil that was manured for a previous crop they are not fussy about soil type but grow best on a light soil. They are easy to grow requiring very little attention however germination is slow so patience is required.

 

Sow between March - May planting 3 seeds 1.2cm deep every 15cm in rows 25cm apart.

 

When the seedlings emerge thin to leave one plant per station. Water regularly during dry spells.
