Description

Echinops Globe Thistle Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This hardy perennial is ideal for planting towards the back of a mixed border.

The steely blue globe shaped flowers stand on silvery branched stems providing valuable nectar, pollen and seed to various species of wildlife in the garden.

Seed selected by RSPB to attract wildlife.

Germination time 21 - 35 days

Loam, chalk or sandy soil that's acidic, alkaline or neutral

Height 90cm

Plant in sun or partial shade.

Flowers July - September the following year.

Ideal for beds, borders, cottage, gravel, low maintenance, wildlife

Deadhead to prevent self seeding

Sow the seed between April - June directly into finely raked moist soil 5mm deep.

Thin the seedlings to their flowering positions to bloom the following summer spacing 35cm apart.
