Dianthus China Pink Merry Go Round Seeds

Dianthus China Pink Merry-Go-Round forms neat mounds of green foliage topped with masses of eye catching flowers from early summer to autumn. The open centred blooms are highly attractive to bees butterflies and hoverflies and add brightness to borders containers and rockeries.

 

This easy to grow annual thrives in full sun and well drained soil and is ideal for edging bedding and patio pots. It performs well in both formal and informal planting schemes and is suitable for pollinator friendly gardens.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist well drained compost and lightly cover with fine soil or vermiculite. Maintain warmth at 18 to 22°C in a propagator or covered tray. Germination usually occurs within 2 to 3 weeks. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out after last frost spacing 20 to 30 cm apart. For direct sowing wait until soil is warm and frost risk has passed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water regularly during dry spells and feed monthly with a balanced fertiliser. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering. Dianthus prefers full sun and tolerates light drought once established. Suitable for borders containers and wildlife schemes.
