Cosmos Apricotta Seed

A tall elegant cosmos with large apricot peach blooms that fade through soft rose tones creating a warm vintage look in borders and cutting gardens.

 

Cosmos Apricotta is a standout annual producing large daisy like flowers in a blend of apricot peach and soft rose shades often with a gentle pink heart and a warm glowing tone that shifts with the light.

 

The petals are lightly pleated and sometimes semi double giving each bloom a soft textured appearance that suits cottage gardens naturalistic borders and relaxed summer planting schemes.

 

Plants grow tall and graceful with fine feathery foliage and long strong stems ideal for cutting and perfect for adding height movement and colour to beds and containers.

Sowing and planting

Sow indoors from March to May or outdoors from April to May

Germination takes approximately seven to fourteen days at fifteen to twenty degrees Celsius

Grow in moderately fertile well drained soil in full sun

Height eighty to one hundred centimetres

Spread forty to fifty centimetres

Flowers from June to October

 

Sowing instructions

Sow on the surface of moist compost and cover lightly

Grow on in bright warm conditions then harden off before planting outdoors after the last frost

For direct sowing scatter thinly over prepared soil and cover lightly with fine soil

Space plants around thirty centimetres apart for strong upright growth

 

Growing and maintenance

Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering

Avoid rich feeding as this encourages foliage over flowers

Water during prolonged dry spells but do not overwater

Cut stems when buds are coloured but not fully open for longest vase life
