  • Description

A compact flowering ageratum with dense rounded clusters of soft blue blooms that bring gentle colour and texture to borders, containers and summer bedding displays.

Ageratum Blue Ball is a beautifully bred selection that produces neat mounds of fluffy blue flowers held above fresh green foliage. The blooms have a soft cushion like texture that gives them a distinctive appearance, adding a cool calming tone to mixed plantings. Their rounded form and rich colour make them perfect for edging, bedding schemes and patio containers where a reliable splash of blue is needed.

This variety is selected for compact branching growth and continuous flowering throughout the summer months. Plants remain tidy and uniform, creating a smooth carpet of colour that blends effortlessly with pinks, whites and silvers. The flowers are long lasting and attract butterflies and other beneficial insects, adding gentle movement and life to the garden.

Ageratum thrives in full sun and free draining soil, performing well in both borders and pots. Its compact habit ensures it fits comfortably into smaller spaces without becoming leggy or sprawling. The steady flowering and soft blue tones make it an excellent choice for cottage gardens, bedding displays and coordinated colour schemes.

Easy to grow and dependable, this variety provides a long season of colour from early summer until the first frosts. Its cool blue palette and tidy growth make it a favourite for gardeners who enjoy soft textured flowers and reliable summer bedding.

Sow seeds on the surface of moist free draining compost and press gently into place without covering, as ageratum seeds need light to germinate. Maintain gentle warmth and keep the compost evenly moist until seedlings appear. Transplant young plants into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off gradually and plant out after the last frost.

Grow and Maintenance
Water regularly during dry spells and feed lightly to support continuous flowering. Remove spent blooms to keep plants tidy and encourage fresh flowers. Provide a sunny sheltered position for the best colour and growth. Plants remain compact and rarely need support. Protect young plants from slugs and snails.
