Ageratum Pink Ball Seed - Irish Plants Direct

A compact half hardy annual with soft, rounded clusters of warm pink flowers that bloom freely from early summer to autumn. The blooms have a plush, tufted texture that adds gentle contrast and tactile interest to planting schemes.
Ideal for edging sunny borders, brightening containers, and softening mixed displays. The neat, mounding plants stay tidy and floriferous throughout the season, while the nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

Seed Qty Approx 0.2 grams

Sow February to May on a warm windowsill or in a propagator.
Germination 7 to 21 days in warm, steady conditions.
Soil and Position Loam, chalk, or sandy soils that are acidic, alkaline, or neutral. Plant in sun or light shade.
Height Approx 20 to 30 cm; compact, rounded habit.
Flowering June to October; deadhead to prolong flowering.

Sowing instructions

Sow between February and May onto sieved, moist compost and press the seed down gently. Do not cover, as light aids germination. Keep warm and evenly moist. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into trays spacing plants 5 cm apart to grow on. Harden off and plant out after the last frost.

Grow and maintenance

Plant in full sun or dappled shade in free draining soil. Water regularly while establishing, then moderately. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering. Trim back lightly after the first flush to promote further blooms.

Uses and benefits

Perfect for beds, borders, pots, containers, and cottage garden schemes. The soft pink flowers and compact habit pair beautifully with silver foliage, white alyssum, or pastel cosmos. Excellent for pollinator-friendly planting and summer bouquets.
