Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds indoors from February to April in seed trays filled with fine compost. Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep, keeping trays at a temperature of 20-25°C for germination. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots and grow on in a bright, frost-free environment.

 

When plants are 15-20 cm tall, transplant them into their final growing positions—either in a greenhouse, polytunnel, or a sunny, sheltered outdoor site—spacing plants 45-60 cm apart. Use canes or stakes to support heavy fruit-laden stems.

 

Harvest fruits when they reach full size and develop a glossy finish, but before the seeds inside mature for the best flavour. Regular picking encourages further fruit production.
