Alyssum Aphrodite Mixed Seeds

Alyssum Aphrodite Mixed (Lobularia maritima) is a delightful, low-growing annual that forms a carpet of tiny, fragrant flowers in a cheerful blend of white, pink, lilac, and purple shades.

 

This charming mix creates a soft, cascading effect that is perfect for edging borders, rockeries, containers, and hanging baskets.

 

Highly scented and continuously blooming from late spring through to autumn, these compact plants attract bees and butterflies, adding both colour and life to the garden.

 

The Aphrodite series is specially bred for uniform growth and extended flowering, even in cooler weather, making it a superb choice.

 

Seed Qty: Approx. 150 seeds

 

Sow: February – May (indoors) or March – June (outdoors)

Germination: 7 – 14 days

Soil Type: Light, well-drained soil

Position: Full sun or partial shade

Height/Spread: 10–15 cm tall, 25–30 cm spread

Companion Plants: Lobelia, Petunia, Bacopa

Avoid Planting With: Dense, tall species that may shade them out

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Indoors:

Sow thinly on the surface of moist seed compost from February to May. Do not cover the seed, as light aids germination. Maintain a temperature of around 18–20°C. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or pots, spacing them 5 cm apart. Harden off before planting outdoors after the risk of frost has passed.

 

Outdoors:

Alternatively, sow directly where plants are to flower from March to June. Thin seedlings to 15 cm apart when large enough to handle. For continuous flowering, remove faded blooms regularly.

 

Alyssum Aphrodite Mixed is an excellent choice for creating a soft, fragrant display of pastel blooms throughout the summer months. Its low, spreading habit makes it ideal for filling gaps between paving stones, edging pathways, or spilling gracefully from containers and baskets.
