Rudbeckia Marmalade Seed - Irish Plants Direct
 
This bright half hardy perennial is a cottage garden favourite with large golden yellow daisy flowers and a dark brown eye.
 
It is weather tolerant and provides long lasting late summer colour in borders or large pots.

Sow February to April
Loam or clay soil that is acidic alkaline or neutral in full sun.
Germination 14 to 21 days.
Height 45 cm.
Flowering July to October.

Sowing instruction
 
Sow between February and April on a warm windowsill cool greenhouse or cold frame into trays of moist compost and cover with a thin layer of sieved compost. When seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into 5 cm pots to grow on then plant out after hardening off.
 
Grow and maintenance
 
Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Feed moderately and water during dry spells to maintain steady flowering. Deadhead to prolong flowering and space plants about 40 to 50 cm apart for good airflow and bushy growth. Suitable for beds borders and wildlife friendly planting.
 
Uses and benefits
 
Excellent for borders mixed plantings and as a good cut flower. The large golden blooms with dark centres attract pollinators and add strong late summer colour.
