Pumpkin Valenciano (Cucurbita maxima Duchesne) is a traditional, large fruited pumpkin variety prized for its sweet, firm orange flesh and excellent storage qualities. Its smooth, round to slightly flattened fruits are ideal for autumn harvest, cooking, roasting, soups, and pies.

Sowing Instructions

 

Indoors: Sow seeds in pots or trays from March to May in fine, moist compost. Maintain a temperature of 20–25°C. Transplant seedlings after the last frost, spacing 1.5–2 m apart to accommodate sprawling vines.

 

Outdoors: Direct sow from April to June into a sunny, prepared bed. Plant seeds 2–3 cm deep, water gently, and thin seedlings to the strongest plant per mound. Provide support or mulching as needed to protect fruits and maintain soil moisture.
