Pumpkin Sweet Dumpling Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This ornamental winter squash has small green and white stripped skins and a sweet orange flesh.

The attractive fruits are upto 10cm accross and weighing upto 200gr they can be used for baking, roasting, soups or for ornamental purposes.

Sow March - May

Germination 7 - 21 days

Loam or sandy soil that's acidic or neutral

Harvest September - October

Companion plants Corn, Nasturtium

Harvest by cutting the fruit off the plant

Use can be baked or roast

Sow from March placing 2 seeds on their side into a 9cm pot 1.5 cm deep leave on a sunny window sill or propagator and keep moist. When the seedlings appear remove the weaker one and grow on.

When the plants get 4/5 leaves gently accustom the plants to outside planting out when risk of frost has passed leaving 90cm between plants.

Alternatively sow outside from May 90cm apart placing 2 seeds in the ground 1.5cm deep remove the weaker seedling when they emerge.
