Onion Spring Parade Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This fast growing Japanese bunching onion has mild flavoured good textured lush dark green foliage with pure white long shafts.

Sow little and often for a continuous supply during summer they can be harvested over a long period of time.

Germination 14 - 21 days

Loam or sandy soil thats alkaline or neutral

Harvest June - September

Companion Plants Carrots, beetroot, lettuce, leeks and brassicas

Do not plant with beans, peas and asparagus

Pull the onions when they are large enough

A good source of vitamin C

Use in salads, sandwiches and Oriental Dishes

Grow in pots and containers especially if space is limited

Onions need a well drained sunny area that has been well dug in autumn adding plenty of compost or well rotted manure. They do not grow well in acidic soil so adding lime maybe necessary.

Sow every two weeks to have a continuous supply of onions. They can also be grown in window boxes or containers on the patio. Keep well watered during dry spells.

Sow thinly 1.5cm deep in drills between March - August. No need to thin the crop.
