Nasturtium Summer Carousel Seeds

A delightful hardy annual producing a complimentary swirl of creamy yellow and soft pink single flowers over attractive green foliage, ideal for patio pots mixed borders and hanging baskets where a soft summer palette is wanted.

Sow Sow March to May indoors for earlier displays or sow directly outdoors April to June where they are to flower.

Germination 7 to 10 days in warm steady conditions.

Soil and Position Loam chalk or sandy soil tolerant of acidic alkaline or neutral conditions; prefers full sun and good drainage but will tolerate light shade.

Height Approx 30 cm; compact habit suits containers low borders and cottage style plantings.

Flowering June to September providing a long season of colour and low maintenance performance.

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow into individual pots three or four seeds per pot on a sunny windowsill in March to May and pot on into 7.5 cm pots to grow on before hardening off and planting out after all risk of frost has passed. For direct sowing plant 1.5 cm deep into finely prepared soil in April to June and thin to the strongest plants once established.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Grow in full sun in free draining soil. Water regularly while establishing and avoid waterlogging. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong the display and maintain tidiness. Use containers or defined beds to control volunteers and rotate cropping in vegetable plots to reduce pest and disease build up.
