When seedlings are large enough to handle pot on into 7.5 cm pots to grow on and harden off before planting out after all risk of frost has passed. For direct sowing delay until soil is reliably warm and thin to the strongest plants once established. Space about 20 to 30 cm apart for best effect.

Plant in full sun in free draining soil and water regularly while establishing. Avoid waterlogging and feed lightly at planting time. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering and maintain tidy plants. Paso Doble thrives in poorer soils where it will set more blooms and remain compact. Use containers or defined beds to keep plants contained and simplify rotation.
