Description
Lettuce Saladin Seeds - Irish Plants Direct
This is a good variety of lettuce with shiney bright green leaves and firm heart with sweet tasting crispy leaves.
It's a very reliable variety for the home gardener.
Seed Qty 1200
Sow February - Mid July
Germination 7 - 14 days
Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or acidic
Harvest June - September
Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots and radish
Do not plant with cabbage
Pick the lettuce when they are of a decent size
A good source of vitamin A, C, K
Use in Salads and sandwiches
Make small successional sowings in fertile well drained soil in a sheltered sunny spot fortnightly to ensure a good supply of lettuce throughout the summer months.
Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil keep.
Keep well watered during dry spells.
Sow outside from late February to June in drills 1.5cm deep and 15cm between rows. When the seedlings appear thin to 15cm apart.
