Lettuce Wonders Of The Four Seaons ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This eye catching butterhead type lettuce has deep red outer leaves with a light green heart with an excellent flavour.

Use to add interest and colour to mixed salad's can be harvested as baby leaf.

Sow May - July

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam - soil that's alkaline or neutral

Harvest July onwards

Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots and radish

Do not plant with cabbage

Cut off the heads when they are of a size

A good source of vitamin A

Use in Salads and sandwiches

Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil.

Sow thinly outdoors from May in drills 1.5cm deep and 30cm between rows when the seedlings appear thin to 30cm apart.

They may benefit and crop a little earlier if they have a little protection by growing under a cloche.

Also sowing in a cold frame, greenhouse or tunnel would be of some benifit and provide an earlier crop.
