Lettuce Cocarde ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

A bolt resistant loose leaved lettuce with an upward growth habit. It has dark green long oakleaf shaped leaves that are slightly tinged red at the edges.

Suitable for mixed salad bowls it has an excellent taste.

Seed Qty 0.5 gram

Sow February - August

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral

Harvest April - October

Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots and radish.

Do not plant with cabbage

Harvest the lettuce when they are of a decent size

A good source of vitamin A

Use in Salads and sandwiches

Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil.

Keep well watered during dry spells, it can be grown on the window sill or in containers on the patio.

Sow between February - August indoors on a sunny window sill onto a tray of moist compost.

When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into trays 5cm apart or individual modules. Gradually harden of the young plants before planting out in April.

Sow during April in drills 1.5cm deep when the seedlings appear thin to 20cm apart and 25cm between rows.
