This bushy perennial herb has bright green lemon scented leaves with white flowers during summer.

 

Use in a wide variety of culinary dishes and tea's, it can be grown in pots or in the herb garden.

It is said to ease stress, help insomnia and acts as an antibacterial inside the body. 

 

Lemon balm is part of the mint family and does have a tenancy to spread so container growing may be advisable. 

 

Excellent for attracting wildlife into the garden.

Sow thinly between March to May indoors in seed trays 0.5cm deep water and place in a warm position 15 - 20 degrees and keep moist. Transplant into small pots when they are large enough to handle, grow on in cooler conditions gradually accustom the plants to outsiders conditions.

 

Sow thinly between May - June outside where they are to grow 1.5cm deep into finely raked well drained soil that has already been watered. Thin the seedling to 30cm apart and keep well watered until the plants are established.
