This loose leaved variety of lettuce has rosettes of slightly puckered red and green leaves with a delicious taste. 

 

A nice cut and come again variety pick the leaves at the base of the plant for them to regrow. 

 

Use in mixed salads to add great colour, texture and taste.

Make successional sowings in fertile well drained soil in a sheltered sunny spot fortnightly to ensure a good supply of fresh lettuce throughout the year. 

Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil.

Keep well watered during dry spells. 

 

Sow thinly indoors from March in seed trays when the plants are large enough to handle pot on to individual pots or a cell tray to grow on. Gradually harden off and transplant out in April spacing the plants 15cm apart.

 

Sow thinly outdoors April through to August in drills 1.5cm deep and 15cm between rows when the seedlings appear thin to 15cm apart.
