Leek Albos Seeds – Irish Plants Direct

Leek Albos (Allium porrum L.) is an early maturing variety valued for its long, uniform white stems and refined, mild flavour.

This versatile leek offers a smooth texture and a delicate taste, making it a superb choice for fresh use in salads, as well as for soups, roasting, and traditional dishes.

A reliable cropper, Albos produces straight, slender stems with bright green tops and excellent uniformity. Its vigour ensures healthy growth, and it performs well in both home gardens and allotments.

An early-season leek, it can be harvested from late summer through autumn, bridging the gap before hardier winter varieties come into season.

Outdoors: Sow directly into a prepared seedbed from March to May. Thin seedlings if needed. Transplant into their final growing positions in early summer, planting deeply to encourage long, white stems. Firm gently and water well.

Leek Albos is an excellent early harvest leek variety that combines tenderness, uniformity, and mild flavour. Its elegant stems and versatility in the kitchen make it a must have for any gardener.
