  • Description

Crimson Clover (Trifolium incarnatum) is a fast establishing green manure that produces lush foliage and striking crimson flower spikes when allowed to bloom.

Its fine root system works deep into the soil, improving structure, boosting fertility, and helping tired beds recover naturally.

This vigorous cover crop fixes nitrogen, adds valuable organic matter, and suppresses weeds with its dense canopy. When cut down before flowering, it breaks down quickly and enriches the soil, leaving beds friable, fertile, and ready for the next crop.

Crimson Clover is ideal for vegetable gardens, raised beds, allotments, and any soil that needs a natural boost. It grows rapidly from spring to early autumn and provides excellent ground cover throughout the growing season.

A reliable, chemical free way to improve soil health, increase biodiversity, and prepare beds for heavy feeding crops.

Sowing Instructions
Sow seeds directly where they are to grow on raked, moist soil. Scatter thinly and lightly rake in, ensuring good seed to soil contact. Keep the area moist until established. For soil improvement, cut down before flowering and dig in lightly or leave on the surface as a mulch. Allow 2–4 weeks for breakdown before replanting.

Grow and Maintenance
Water during dry spells to help establishment. Cut down before flowering for maximum nitrogen return. For pollinator support, allow a small section to bloom. After incorporation, leave the plant material to decompose naturally. Suitable for repeated sowings throughout the season. Not frost hardy.
