Basil Lemon Herb Seeds

Lemon Basil is a delightful basil variety prized for its distinct citrus fragrance and flavour.

 

The plants are compact and bushy, with small pointed leaves and delicate pinkish flower spikes in summer. Unlike standard sweet basil, Lemon Basil has a refreshing lemony tang that makes it especially versatile in both savoury and sweet dishes.

Sow March to July indoors or under cover. Can be sown outdoors in June once soil is warm

Soil and Position Fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Ideal for pots, containers, or a sunny windowsill

Height/Spread 30 to 60 cm tall, 20 to 30 cm spread

Harvest June to September. Pick leaves regularly to encourage bushy growth

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist compost and cover lightly. Keep at 20 to 25°C until germination. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant outdoors after the last frost, spacing 25 cm apart.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Pinch out growing tips to encourage branching and prevent early flowering. Water regularly but avoid waterlogging. Protect from cold draughts and harvest leaves frequently to maintain productivity. Remove flower spikes if you want prolonged leaf harvest.
