The Autumn Winter Mix is a dependable green manure blend designed to protect and enrich soil during the colder months.

Sow August to October

Germination 7 to 21 days depending on temperature

Soil and Position Any fertile well drained soil in full sun or light shade

Height and Spread Variable depending on species, generally 20 to 60 cm

Growing Season Autumn through winter with incorporation in late winter or early spring

 

Sowing Instructions

Prepare a fine seed bed and remove weeds. Scatter seeds evenly over the soil and lightly rake in to ensure good contact. Water well and keep moist during establishment. Allow plants to grow through autumn and winter. Cut down before flowering and dig in lightly or leave on the surface as a mulch. Allow two to four weeks for the material to break down before planting.

 

Grow and Maintenance

Water during dry spells in early establishment. Once growing, the mix requires little attention. Cut down before flowering for best soil improvement. Incorporate the foliage into the top layer of soil or leave as a surface mulch to decompose naturally. Suitable for repeated use each year to maintain long term soil health.
