This lush climbing or trailing plant has yellow flowers from which masses of tiny watermelon look a like fruits are produced during summer.

 

They have a pleasant cucumber flavour with a tinge of fresh lime. 

 

A perennial plant that will produce tasty fruits year after year grow in a sunny sheltered area. 

 

Also known as mouse melon.

Dont plant out until any frosts have passed, a sunny sheltered spot is required.  The soil must be well drained and humus rich.

Liquid feed with a high potash feed on a regular basis. 

 

 

Sow  April - May into 7cm pots place on a window sill, warm greenhouse or propagator. When the plants are around 7cm tall plant out into containers, tubs or grow bags 30 - 40cm apart and place in a sunny sheltered spot. 

 

They will need support with a cane. 

 

These are perennial plants lift in the autumn before the first frosts and store the roots in barely moist compost in a frost proof area such as a shed.

Plant out again the following year in April.
