Sow March to June directly outdoors or in trays. Germination 7 to 14 days at 15–20°C. Soil and Position Light fertile well drained soil; prefers full sun. Height 30–60 cm with upright stems and finely divided leaves. Harvesting May to September; pick leaves regularly for fresh use or allow plants to set seed for spice harvest.

 

Sowing instructions

Prepare a fine seed bed in full sun. Sow seeds thinly in drills 1 cm deep and 30 cm apart. Thin seedlings to 15 cm spacing once established. Water well after sowing and keep soil evenly moist during dry spells. Successional sowings every few weeks provide a continuous supply of fresh leaves.

 

Grow and maintenance

Grow in light fertile soil with regular watering to encourage lush foliage. Harvest leaves frequently to prevent bolting. Cilantro benefits from cooler conditions and partial shade in midsummer. Allow some plants to flower and set seed for spice harvest.
