Campanula Harebell Seed

A dainty and graceful perennial with slender stems bearing nodding, bell-shaped blue flowers from midsummer into autumn.

 

Harebell forms clumps of rounded basal leaves and wiry upright stems, creating a soft, airy presence in wildflower meadows, rockeries, and naturalistic borders.

 

This wildflower thrives in full sun to partial shade and well drained, low fertility soils. It is drought tolerant once established and attracts bees, hoverflies, and other pollinators.

Sowing Instructions

 

For best results, sow in autumn or stratify seeds in the fridge for 4 to 6 weeks before spring sowing. Sow on the surface of moist compost and press lightly without covering. Keep at 15 to 20°C until germination. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Space plants 20 to 30 cm apart. Suitable for direct sowing into wildflower areas.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water during dry spells in the first year. Once established, plants are drought-tolerant and require minimal care. Deadhead to prolong flowering or allow to self-seed. Divide clumps every 3 to 4 years in spring. Ideal for meadows, gravel gardens, and wildlife planting.
