American Sweet Gum Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This slow growing stunning tree has a riot of colour during autumn with colours ranging from orange through to scarlet red and purple.

A slender tree with glossy maple like green leaves attractive grey bark and inconspicuous flowers during spring are followed by ball shaped green fruits.

This tree could be grown in smaller gardens or large pots.

Well drained acidic - neutral soil

Height 8 - 10 metres

Plant in sun

Sow the seed year round into pots if moist compost 1cm deep and place on a sunny window sill or in a propagator the temperature needs to be between 20° - 25°

Cover the pot with clear polythene to retain moisture.

Remove regularly so mould doesn't form.

When the plants are large enough to handle transplant into individual pots to grow on.
