Achillea Dark Pink Seed

Price: €1.50
  • Description

A striking, long flowering achillea with deep rose pink flower heads that bring bold colour, texture and movement to summer borders and wildlife friendly plantings.

Achillea Dark Pink is a beautifully coloured yarrow variety that produces flat, clustered flower heads in rich shades of deep pink that soften gently as they mature. The blooms sit proudly above finely cut, aromatic foliage, creating a natural, meadow style look that blends effortlessly into cottage gardens, mixed borders and pollinator plantings. Its vivid colour stands out brilliantly in the summer sun, adding depth and contrast to surrounding plants.

This reliable perennial is bred for strong, upright growth and a long flowering season, offering colour from early summer well into autumn. Plants form neat clumps that carry a generous number of flower stems, each packed with long lasting blooms that attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. The flowers are excellent for cutting and drying, holding their colour beautifully in arrangements.

Achillea thrives in full sun and well drained soil, performing especially well in hot, dry conditions where other plants may struggle. Its drought tolerance, low maintenance needs and natural resilience make it ideal for modern gardens, wildlife borders, gravel plantings and prairie style designs. The compact habit ensures it fits comfortably into smaller spaces without flopping or becoming invasive.

Hardy and easy to grow, this variety returns reliably each year, gradually forming a stronger clump and offering even more flowers over time. Its deep pink tones and airy structure make it a standout choice for gardeners who enjoy long lasting colour and naturalistic planting styles.

Sowing Instructions
Sow seeds on the surface of moist, free draining compost and press gently into place without covering, as achillea seeds need light to germinate. Maintain gentle warmth and keep the compost evenly moist until seedlings appear. Transplant young plants into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off gradually and plant out after the last frost into a sunny, well drained position.

Grow and Maintenance
Water young plants regularly until established, then reduce watering as achillea prefers drier conditions. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage fresh flowers and prolong the display. Cut back the entire plant after flowering to promote tidy regrowth. Plants are hardy, drought tolerant and rarely need support. Protect young seedlings from slugs and snails.
