Description
Wasabino Asian Brassica ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct
Wasabino, also known as Wasabina Mustard (Brassica juncea), is an organic leafy green celebrated for its vibrant, frilly light-green leaves and a distinctive, spicy wasabi like flavour. This cold-tolerant plant is slow to bolt, ensuring a prolonged harvest
Seed Quantity: Approx2.5 grams
Sowing Period: January- September
Germination: 7 – 14 days.
Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH.
Height: Can grow up to 2 meters tall.
Harvesting: Leaves can be harvested continuously throughout the growing season.
Companion Plants: Beets, Brassicas, Carrot, Celery, Chervil, Cucumbers, Dill, Garlic, Onions, Radish, Spinach, Squash, Strawberries.
Avoid Planting With: Other lettuce varieties to prevent cross-pollination.
Sowing Instructions:
Indoors: Sow seeds January- March in seed trays or pots filled with moist, well-drained compost. Lightly cover the seeds with compost and maintain a temperature of 15–20°C. Once seedlings are large enough to handle and the risk of frost has passed, transplant them into the garden or containers.
Outdoors: Sow directly into prepared soil between April - September.Ensure the seeds are lightly pressed into the soil and keep moist until germination occurs. Thin out seedlings to ensure adequate space for each plant to grow.
To encourage continuous leaf production, harvest leaves regularly. Wasabino benefits from consistent watering but does not thrive in waterlogged soil. Ideal for gardeners seeking a crisp, low-maintenance plant that provides long-lasting harvests and enhances culinary dishes. Perfect for borders, containers, and kitchen gardens.
