Viola Bambini Mix Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

The Viola tricolor var. hortensis commonly known as Viola or Pansy is a delightful and versatile flowering plant that adds a burst of colour to any garden.

The Latin name Viola tricolor var. hortensis refers to the plant’s ancestry, with Viola meaning "violet" and tricolor indicating the plant’s tri-coloured petals.

The Bambini Mix variety is a charming mix of vibrant, multicoloured blooms, featuring a delightful range of shades from bright yellows and purples to whites and reds. These compact flowers are perfect for bedding, containers, and window boxes, offering a cheerful display throughout the growing season.

This compact, bushy plant grows to a height of 15-20 cm and thrives in well-drained, fertile soil with partial to full sun. Viola Bambini Mix is known for its early and continuous flowering, starting in spring and lasting until the first frost, providing long-lasting colour.

The small but abundant flowers are perfect for attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies, making them a great choice for wildlife-friendly gardens.

Sowing Instructions

Indoors: Sow seeds in trays or pots filled with moist, well-drained compost from January to March. Lightly press the seeds into the compost but do not cover, as they need light to germinate. Keep at a temperature of 18-21°C for optimal germination. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots or directly into the garden after the last frost.

Outdoors: Sow directly into prepared soil in a sunny or partially shaded spot from April to May. Lightly press seeds into the soil and keep moist until germination occurs. Thin seedlings to 15-20 cm apart once established.

Viola Bambini Mix is perfect for gardeners looking to add early and long-lasting colour to their garden or containers. Its compact growth habit and vibrant blooms make it a fantastic choice for smaller gardens, hanging baskets, or patio pots.
