Verbascum Purple Mullein Mix Seeds

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist well drained compost and lightly cover with fine soil or vermiculite. Maintain cool temperatures at 15 to 20°C in a propagator or covered tray. Germination may take 3 to 4 weeks, sometimes requiring a period of winter chilling for best results. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out after last frost spacing 30 to 40 cm apart. For direct sowing wait until soil is warm and frost risk has passed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water regularly during dry spells and feed lightly in spring with a balanced fertiliser. Remove spent flower spikes to encourage tidy growth and prolong flowering. Purple Mullein thrives in sunny positions and poor soils, naturalising gently in suitable settings. Suitable for borders, wildlife gardens, and cottage-style schemes.
