Sweet Marjoram ORGANIC Herb Seed

Sweet Marjoram (Origanum majorana) is a fragrant, tender herb prized for its delicate, slightly sweet flavour with hints of citrus and pine.

 

A close relative of oregano, this aromatic variety is a staple in Mediterranean cuisine, enhancing soups, stews, roasted vegetables, and meat dishes. Its fine, oval-shaped leaves release a warm, savoury scent when crushed, making it a must have for any culinary herb garden.

 

This compact, bushy plant thrives in well-drained, fertile soil and enjoys a warm, sunny location. Sowing Instructions

 

Indoors: Start seeds indoors from March to May. Fill seed trays or small pots with fine compost, sowing seeds thinly on the surface. Lightly press into the soil without covering, as they require light to germinate. Maintain a temperature of 18-22°C and keep the compost moist. Once seedlings are large enough, transplant them into individual pots and harden off before planting outdoors.

 

Outdoors: Direct sow outdoors from May to June in a warm, sheltered location. Scatter seeds lightly onto prepared soil and press gently. Water well and thin seedlings to encourage strong, bushy growth. Regularly pinch back growing tips to promote a fuller plant and extend the harvest period.
