Sunflower Sungold Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This easy to grow annual is a low growing sunflower that has golden yellow multi petaled flowers during summer.

They are a great variety for growing in pots and containers or the front of a sunny border in groups for a striking effect.

Sunflowers are an excellent choice for encouraging wildlife into the garden.

Loam, chalk or clay soil that's alkaline or neutral

Germination time 7 - 21 days

Plant in Beds, borders, pots, containers, wildlife, cottage, cut flower

Also known as Helianthus

Leave the seed heads over winter to feed the birds.

Sow between late April - May into a fine layer of raked warm moist soil 13mm deep where the plants are to grow space the plants to 30 - 45cm apart.

Alternatively sow during March on a sunny window sill in pots.

Gradually harden off planting the sunflowers 39 - 45cm apart.
