Grow towards the back of sunny mixed border this easy to grow annual is a magnet for attracting a host of wildlife into the garden.

Leave the seed heads over winter to feed the birds.

Sow between late April - May into a fine layer of raked warm moist soil 13mm deep where the plants are to grow space the plants to 30 - 45cm apart.

Alternatively sow during March on a sunny window sill in pots.

Gradually harden off planting the sunflowers 39-45cm apart.
