Spinach New Zealand Seed - Irish Plants Direct

New Zealand spinach is an unusual but highly rewarding leafy vegetable, native to coastal regions of Australasia.

Unlike true spinach (Spinacia oleracea), which struggles in hot weather, this species thrives in summer heat and provides a steady supply of tender greens when other salad crops may bolt.

The plants are low, spreading, and bushy, often used as edible ground cover. Leaves are fleshy, triangular, and bright green, with a mild flavour that becomes richer when lightly cooked.

It is not frost hardy, so it is usually grown as an annual in temperate climates, but with regular picking it will crop abundantly until the first frosts.
