Scabious Tall Double Mix Seeds

This lightly scented hardy annual produces plenty of double pincushion like flowers in a wide range of colours during summer, making it an excellent border plant that attracts wildlife and is ideal for cutting and cottage or wildflower schemes.

Sow March to April

Loam chalk or sandy soil that is acidic alkaline or neutral in full sun. Germination 7 to 21 days. Height 90 cm. Flowers June to September. Seed selected to attract wildlife and suitable for beds borders wildlife cottage and low maintenance planting

 

Sowing instructions

 

Sow thinly directly outside between March and April into finely raked moist soil covering lightly. Sow seed where the plants are to grow and thin seedlings when established to allow good airflow. For a continuous display make successive sowings at two to three week intervals.

 

Grow and maintenance

 

Plant in full sun in well drained soil and feed moderately to support steady flowering. Water during dry spells and remove spent blooms to prolong the display. Space plants about 40 to 50 cm apart for bushy healthy growth and to reduce disease risk.

Excellent for borders mixed plantings and cutting; the long stems and double pincushion blooms provide a steady supply of cut flowers and attract pollinators, adding colour and wildlife value to the garden.
