Sweet Scabious Mixed produces tall, branching plants with pincushion like flowers in shades of crimson, purple, pink, and white.

Sow March to May direct outdoors or indoors from February.

Germination 14 to 21 days at 18 to 22°C.

Soil and Position Free draining fertile soil in full sun.

Height/Spread 90 to 120 cm tall, 30 to 45 cm spread.

Flowering June to September.

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly in prepared soil or in trays of moist, free draining compost. Lightly cover with fine soil and maintain temperatures at 18 to 22°C. Germination usually occurs within 2 to 3 weeks. Thin seedlings to 30 to 45 cm apart when large enough to handle. Harden off indoor seedlings and plant out after last frost.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water regularly during dry spells and feed lightly with a balanced fertiliser to encourage healthy growth. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering. Sweet Scabious thrives in sunny positions and fertile soil, requiring little maintenance

once established.
