Salad Burnet Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This clump forming perennial herb grows to a height of around 60cm and would not look out of place in a flower border.

It has attractive dark green serrated leaves that grow from a reddish stem with edible purple flowers in summer.

Use the cucumber flavoured leaves in drinks, salad's, soups and sauces.

Sow April - June

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam soil that's alkaline, acidic or neutral

Harvest June - September

Snip the leaves when required

A good source of vitamin C

Use in sauces, soups and salads

Sow outdoors when the risk from late spring sowing thinly 1cm deep thin the plants to 30cm apart.

Alternatively Sow into small pots or modules covering with a fine layer of compost leave in a cold frame until the plants are large enough to plant out.

They do not like root disturbance.
