Red Ginger Lily Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This impressive looking tropical perennial has lush green foliage with large highly fragrant creamy yellow flowers followed by bright green seed that opens wih a bright orange lining.

Grow in a sunny sheltered spot in mixed borders, cottage gardens or pots and containers for a tropical looking display.

Also known as Kahill lily

Cut down after flowering and mulch for over winter protection. Move container plants to a frost free area.

Sow year round on a warm window sill or in a propagator on to a trays of moist compost cover with 5mm of sieved compost. Germinate at a temperature of between 20° - 25°.

When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant to 5cm apart into trays to grow on or individual pots to grow on.

Gradually harden off the plants before planting out into their flowering position after all risk of frost has passed.

They will flower in their third year.
